A comprehensive eye exam at CustomEyes typically takes about 30 minutes, thanks in part to Optomap® retinal imaging technology that streamlines the process. Exam length can vary slightly based on your eye health history and whether you’re also being fit for contact lenses.
What Happens in Those 30 Minutes
Your exam typically includes:- A review of your vision history and any concerns
- Optomap retinal imaging, a fast, high-resolution scan of the back of your eye
- Vision and refraction testing to determine your prescription
- A discussion of your results with your optometrist
What Can Add Time to Your Visit
A few things may extend your appointment beyond the typical 30 minutes:- A first-time visit, which includes new patient paperwork
- A contact lens exam or fitting added to your comprehensive exam
- Additional testing recommended based on your eye health history
Planning Your Visit
If you’re short on time, let our team know when booking. We can help set expectations and, when needed, schedule contact lens fittings as a separate visit. The CustomEyes Difference: Efficiency Through Technology
Optomap® retinal imaging is standard across our nine Chicago-area locations, giving patients a faster, more predictable visit than exams that rely on traditional dilation alone. Ready for a thorough eye exam? Book an appointment at your nearest CustomEyes location.
